A WORD ABOUT WORRY

  October 2008 Newsletter

Worry is one of humankinds greatest ailments. We wish we could say that worry is confined only to those who are not Christians.

However, this is not the case.   It is one of the Christian's biggest problems.

The Greeks thought of worry as that which tears a man in two and drags him in opposite directions.

The Latin word for worry suggests a turbulent force responsible for turmoil within.

The Anglo-Saxon word is descriptive of a power gripping a man by the throat as a wolf seizes a sheep and strangles all the vitality out of it.

The word "anxiety"comes from the same root as anger and suggests the idea of choking.

Beginning on September 28,  I want to bring a series of sermons that will enable us to live successfuly as Christians.

1.Sept. 28 "Hurry, worry and bury."  A sermon on worry.

2.Oct.7   "Living with frustrations."

3.Oct.21"Turning trials into triumphs."

4.Oct.28  "I've got a secret...Contentment."

It is a joy to be your pastor,
